Haneen Alawawdeh

Haneen Alawawdeh works as an Intern at Women Win and supports the grant-making and partner accompaniment of ONSIDE MENA. Haneen is 27 years old and of Jordanian nationality. She speaks Arabic, French, Spanish, and English.

Haneen’s academic background is broadly situated in the interdisciplinary women and children rights in particular MENA with Political Science and International Law with a focus on international development and social science. She’s a doctorate student in Social and Political Sciences at the University of Lausanne; her PhD research study aims to determine the relationship between violence against women and persistent gendered, cultural, Law and religious factors. where she’s focused on Family Violence against girls and Women in Saudi Arabia and Tunisia; intimate partner violence, and family violence (nuclear) against adolescents.
She has a master’s degree in international relations with an excellent GPA from Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Poland. where her MA thesis focused on Underage Marriage in the Middle East and North Africa at various levels (national, regional, and international). She was recognised for having the best master’s thesis in international relations.
In addition, she’s worked on many in-depth research papers on the violations facing women in the Middle East and North Africa, and participated in many seminars to illuminate these issues. Haneen seeks to be the voice of women to convey Arab societal problems by designing effective regional protection programmes for women and children. Moreover, she joined many conferences in support of women’s rights. She was active in the ‘Never Again’ association in Poland. Also, she participated in a volunteer project aimed at helping struggling women in remote areas.
