Maryam Aly

Maryam first joined Women Win as an intern in the Ignita team with a focus on the Resilience Fund for Women in Global Value Chains. In October 2022, she transitioned into the role of Senior Programmes Specialist.

Graduating with a degree in pharmacy, she has been working in the field of public health and development for several years, focusing on youth and sexual and reproductive health.

Originally from Egypt, Maryam received her masters in global health at Maastricht University, with a specialisation in implementing innovations on a global scale. Her thesis focused on critically analyzing the Global Gag Rule, exploring the framing of abortion and sexual and reproductive health rights (SRHR) and the different notions of power. She also did a post-graduate degree with the University of Maryland Baltimore focused on research ethics.

When she’s not doing that, she’s exploring all sorts of places and/or consuming copious amounts of coffee
