A Winning Combination

Women Win and Win-Win Strategies Merge

Women Win has always envisioned a future where every girl and woman exercises her rights. For the past 12 years, the organization has done that primarily through strengthening programs aimed at empowering girls and women through sport, reaching over 3 million girls in almost 100 countries. The work has always been fueled by intra and cross sector partnerships – often involving influential actors in both the corporate sector and women’s rights world, amongst others.

Win-Win Strategies, a mission-aligned but previously independent organisation, was born out of a need to cultivate deeper ties between those same actors, with a specific interest in women’s economic empowerment. In a short period of time, the organization has become a leading catalyst of transformative, cross-sectoral approach to sustained women’s economic empowerment, working in partnership with leading companies, women-led organisations, investors and connecting institutions, such as the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Business for Social Responsibility, Gap Inc., Central American Women’s Fund and Fondo Semillas.

As of  January 1, 2019, Women Win and Win-Win Strategies are now one organization, representing two brands – a girls’ sport and play brand and a women’s economic empowerment brand. The merger brought together the two organizations’ passion, energy, expertise, funds and networks, which will now contribute to even greater progress on empowering women and girls around the world. Together, Women Win and Win-Win Strategies have the ability to carry out even more world-class thought leadership, research, programmatic implementation and consultancy, and campaign even more effectively for better educational and economic opportunities for girls and women.

Despite the enormous progress made by both Women Win and Win-Win Strategies, the challenge that lies ahead for girls’ and women’s rights is too big to be tackled independently. This merger provides a bold and exciting opportunity to rise to this challenge, together, and make a significant difference to millions of girls and women through a shared vision of a world where every woman and girl exercises her rights and accesses opportunities.

With common values and ways of working, the merger is a natural progression enabling Women Win and Win-Win Strategies to leverage operational efficiencies and share staff globally through legal entities in the Netherlands, U.S. and U.K. Women Win will become the “umbrella” organisation, which will be poised for growth in collaboration with other organisations, partners and initiatives.

We are excited to announce this merger with our community and look forward to deepening the impact of both brands in our new configuration.
