Winnie Andeyo

Nairobi, Kenya

Programme Coordinator, Vijana Amani Pamoja

"At first it was a bit hard to open up, being it the first time to really talk about what I went through, but it became easy as I put it down on paper and also as I produced the story."

Rising from the depths of a major knock down in life, Winnie found self-appreciation and community in football. Her story shows that sports can help overcome hardships not only related to difficult conditions of life, but also to a personal loss of a dear one. For Winnie, football is a universal language; it enables community-building which soothes the pain and makes it easier to deal with personal problems, too.
