Virginia Munyua
Virginia works at Women Win as one of ONSIDE Co-captains. In this role, she co-leads our efforts of supporting feminist organising and movements that leverage sports to advance gender justice. She joined the Women Win team in 2021 as a Programmes Coordinator for the LEAP workstream where she provided regranting and partner management programmatic support for a diverse portfolio of partners.
Virginia has a background in gender and human rights and holds a Master of Arts in Gender and Development Studies from the University of Nairobi. A passionate advocate of women’s empowerment, she is keen on collaborative spaces that disrupt patriarchal systems and amplify the voices of girls and women.
Prior to joining Women Win, she coordinated collaborative initiatives targeted at the intersection of business and human rights to advance women’s economic empowerment and resilience in supply chains. She has over 16 years of experience working closely with the private sector and not-for-profit organisations in Africa to deliver decent work for women in different sectors.
Virginia is from Kenya and resides in Nairobi. In her free time, she enjoys taking long walks, hanging out with close family and friends, and movies.
